Calpe has become in recent years a favorite destination for top-level cycling teams to carry out their preparation during the winter months.

And this is due to its favorable weather conditions, moderate temperatures, more than 320 days of sunshine per year, its rugged orography with an environment that has mountain passes such as Cumbre del Sol, Coll de Rates, Tudons or Aitana as well as the wide range of hotels and restaurants in the town, specializing in serving this segment of active tourism. In fact, the hotels have spaces to store bicycles, mechanical assistance services and a buffet designed for cycling fans, among other facilities for cyclists.

These excellent conditions have been endorsed by numerous cycling teams from different parts of the European continent that have chosen Calpe to prepare their competitions, highlighting the wide presence of the best in the world, UCI World Tour category teams such as the Belgian team Deceuninck Quick Step, the French Groupama FDJ and AG2R La Mondiale, the Kazakh Astana Pro Team, the German Sunweb, the French Cofidis as well as the Spanish Movistar Team.

It is also common to see professional cyclists choose the area to train on their own, Continental Professional teams and amateurs from all over the world, a situation that has put Calpe in the international focus of cycling tourism, being one of the most demanded destinations at European level for the practice of this sport.
