The Calp Town Council, through its Department of Foreign Promotion within the Tourism Council, participated on March 12th and 13th in “The 50 Plus Show,” Ireland’s leading national fair for the over-50 age group, held in Dublin. This promotional activity is part of the town’s strategy to diversify its tourism offerings with the aim of attracting a high-spending visitor profile interested in culture and traditions.
“The 50 Plus Show” is held annually in various Irish cities, including Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick, and Sligo. During the fair, the Calp delegation met with representatives from Killester Travel, an Irish travel agency specializing in leisure and sports tourism. This company is organizing the “Marty Party,” a group trip to Calp sponsored by the well-known Irish public television presenter RTÉ, Marty Morrissey, whose arrival in the town is scheduled for October 1st.
Killester Travel's presence at the event has opened new avenues for collaboration with this tour operator, as well as establishing initial contact with Marty Morrissey, a very popular figure in Ireland for his career in radio and television, especially in sports broadcasts and major events. The Calp Town Council has extended an invitation for him to pay an official visit during his stay in the municipality and explore some of the town's most emblematic sites, such as the Queen's Baths and the old town.
Furthermore, potential joint initiatives are being explored with the Irish group accompanying the presenter, including cultural or musical activities that foster interaction between visitors and residents and help strengthen Calp's presence in the Irish market.
Representatives from one of Calp's leading hotel groups also participated in this promotional event, accompanying the municipal delegation and contributing to reinforcing the destination's image among professionals and the public in the Irish tourism sector.
