The Calp Town Council will install Wi-Fi hotspots in the main squares of the old town, as well as in other public spaces throughout the municipality, such as the Parc de la Creativitat (Creativity Park) and municipal sports facilities.

The council has awarded the project to Calpe Networks, S.L., for €39,756.71. The project involves installing a wireless network based on Wi-Fi technology, using the facades of public buildings as mounting points for the access points. The existing public lighting network will also be used for the necessary cable runs and connections, which will expedite deployment and reduce the costs associated with creating new infrastructure.

Wi-Fi hotspots are planned for the following locations: Mosquit Square, España Square, Villa Square, Beato Francisco Sendra Square, Miguel Roselló Square, Manuel Miró Square, Arco Iris Square, and other locations in the municipality, including the Plaza Mayor (Main Square), the Parc de la Creativitat, the Sports Center, and the Miguel Ángel Benítez sports courts.

This initiative is part of Calp's Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan (PSTD), within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan financed by Next Generation EU funds. Its objective is to consolidate Calp as a smart tourism destination and promote digital inclusion, facilitating access to information and offering a value-added service to both residents and visitors. The action is included in the Smart Tourism Destination Master Plan, approved in 2017, and aligns with the municipality's 2020-2030 Strategic Tourism Plan, which is committed to modernizing destinations through digital tools to promote more diversified, higher-quality, and environmentally responsible tourism.
